I bought the XL and I have a 32" waist. I really, really like these shorts for wearing around my place. I tried sleeping in them, and about half way through the night I ended taking them off. I move around a bit when I sleep, and my legs got tangled up because of the length, they come down an inch or two below my knees. I don't think I would wear them out and about though. I would imagine that I might get some strange looks if I went to Walmart or elsewhere, not that you don't see your fair share of strange people at Walmart! These are super comfortable for a lazy day around the house, watching a movie in the summer months. The shorts are well made, and the material is pretty smooth and silky. The odd thing about them is the center pocket right in front of you crotch. Not sure what the purpose of it is. Like I said, I would not wear these to the gym, shopping or those kinds of actives.I like these so much that I am going to place another order for a different color, but in a large. These are snug, but I would like them a bit tighter. There is not a draw string to tighten them up, but I haven't had any issues where they have fallen off, or sagging either. If the elastic waist band ever fails I may have an issue then.
